[ As silly as it was, Sheryl was feeling pretty cheery from that secret. She waited for Kamina by the front of her hotel, hoping that he'd actually wear appropriate clothing (i.e. a shirt) as she tapped her foot, humming to herself. This was a songwriting sort of mood. She was wearing her usual getup of aviators and a floppy hat; the sun had mostly set by now, but she liked being able to go around unrecognized. ]

[who needs to know how shit works when there are LCD screens to ponder and bright lights to poke at? technology, how does it work? it can only hold his interest for so long, however, and so he begins to look over sheryl's shoulder at her mad scribbling, but saying nothing.]

I got an idea for a song! That sort of thing, you have to write it down right away, or you could completely lose it, you know!

Of course it's a singer thing. Songs don't just appear by magic, you know.

'course they don't come from magic! Just never though singers stopped what they're doing to write, is all. [hands her cell phone back]

I don't know about anyone else, but I've never been able to write songs sitting at a desk. [ takes her phone back, and puts it back into her purse ] Well, I can clean them up or add verses, but the original idea? That has to come when I'm out here living. And when it comes, you have to grab it in the moment!

[ she smiles back and leans against him again ] Oh, really? So it isn't just the "hopes and dreams"?

[ a thoughtful pause ] I couldn't sing if I couldn't do that. No-- singing aside, I can't do anything but say what I want to say, no matter the fallout. But you're the same, aren't you?
