I owe you an explanation, Sheryl, I do. It would be better to say this to your face, but, as it is I'll give you a short version, if that's alright; I'll explain all the details when we meet next.

It's a long story; I...was doing cybernetic research around the time I met you. Some of the people I was working with had looser morals than I. When we were running out of volunteers--some were recruited forcefully. I, myself, had little to do with that. Brera was one of these forced volunteers; even though I had little to do with it--I know I should have tried to do something, yet I did not--his resentment of me, of all of us, is strong. He must have resented me for my behavior towards you, all those years ago, as well.
